Ondřej Klimeš, Ph.D., is has so far conducted most of his research on the history of Xinjiang and Uyghur national movement in the Republican period (1900 – 1949) and on contemporary politics of Xinjiang and China. He is currently preparing publications on the cultural diplomacy and political system of the PRC. In the Power research platform, he researches the evolution and role of ideology, propaganda, and political discourse during the Xi Jinping era. He is also interested in contemporary Xinjiang policy and its implications for the Uyghur community, evolution of modern China’s political language and media, authoritarian politics, and the intersection of politics and culture in modern China. His research languages are Chinese and Uyghur.
